Louisiana Update

I have realized how I am failing miserably at keeping this blog updated. There are times I forget I have it and other times I wonder why even bother because nobody looks at it. But then I have to remember nobody likes to look at the same thing for months on end. So it is about time that I get my act together and start posting more...got to keep it interesting right?!!

So we have been in LA for about 6 weeks now and really trying to get settled. We bought a new home and trying to organize it has taken up most of my time. (well that and swimming at the neighbors! thanks to the Coopers.) I can't wait til it cools down and I can start doing some landscaping to this barren yard. Greg was here for 2 weeks then he left for San Antonio for military Training. He said to me that he thought it was crazy that for 9 years he's prepared to become a surgeon and the first few weeks of training is learning how to shoot an M16. Hopefully when deployed this will keep him safe. But he has been gone for 5 weeks now and 3 more to go :)

The girls started school here Aug. 11. Kind of early to me, but it was good that they could start so they could meet some friends. (Now only if I could figure out how to get pictures off my iphone so i could post some of their first day would be great!) They have to wear uniforms down here...Khaki bottoms and white, black or purple polo shirts. At first, not really liking the idea, but after school shopping I'm a big fan. However, the girls aren't really set on it yet. But it sure eliminates the fights I'd have with Brooklyn in the morning as to what to wear.

We have met some wonderful people here and are looking forward to what lies ahead. We think about our friends we have made each time we have made a move, and we have made lifelong friends everywhere. So we are hoping to do so here!!

I will post pics soon!! More to come. (Not 2 months later either)

Sad News!

So after 11 years of having my pup, Baylor, we had to put him down april 13. In March he had been diagnosed with diabetes and I had been giving him insulin shots twice a day for a month. He wasn't getting any better and was losing weight. He became weaker and wasn't able to get up on his own. I felt so bad for him. He would bark at me in the middle of the night just so I would come move him a little so he was more comfortable or so he could go outside. I was not ready to let him go. But I really think he knew with all the changes happening he didn't want to do it anymore.
We got the kids and took them to the vet so we could all say goodbye. That was really tough for me. Even now 2 months later I choke up and miss him terribly. He was a very good dog and loved by many. I will get a picture up as soon as I can.

Too much to catch up on

As you can see I am way too far behind. With Facebook, it seems that I forget to get on here anymore. I post things there and not here. I will try and catch up soon. But our latest and greatest, or not so greatest news is that we found out we will be going to Fort Polk, Louisiana. Initial reaction...not so good. But we have known for 6 days, and for the past 5, I have been searching the internet about this place. I am definitely warming up to the idea. Small towns are nothing new to me. Been there done that a few times. Humidity, tornados, & bugs, done that too. BEACH near by haven't done and really looking forward to it. Mardi Gras is one thing I haven't done nor do I care to either. Exploring a new part of the country will be fun.
I have been in touch with a few people who are stationed there and seem to be mixed feelings. But I realize that I have never went off what other people tell me, so why start now. I need to go down there and see for myself. It will be fine and we will be happy wherever we go. We know that the Lord has a purpose for us...might be to drastically reduce the mosquito population or some other grand purpose, but we will go find out. We will definitely miss OH and all of the wonderful people we have became friends with. It will be a hard move. I am counting on lots of visitors...even if they want to meet us at the beach :)

Thanksgiving Fun

Brooklyn's Class had a Thanksgiving Feast. They had made their own drums and learned a few songs. I was one of the lucky moms that were able to go see it.
These two girls are her good friends!
Her class and teacher Mrs. Peterson

Getting in to playing the drums.

Yes, she marches or plays to her own beat!

Brooklyn's Christmas Program

Brooklyn had her Christmas Program at school Monday Dec. 14. It was just her Kindergarten class. They were so cute. They made some props for most of the songs. Here are a few.

Christmas Preparations

Every year we say that we are going to simplify, and every year it seems like at the last minute I am feeling guilty for not giving as much. This year however, I am determined to keep it simple and focused on the Savior. I love this video.

We can learn so much from our children. I hope we use this season to teach others about the gift we all received from the Lord. May we look to serve others and feel the true spirit of Christmas.

If any of you are wanting a FREE Christmas DVD about the birth of Jesus, click on the link and fill out the information. Or lmk and I can get one for you.
